The prophet Joseph Smith has taught, "The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it." Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints rejoice in the resurrection of Jesus Christ when His body and spirit was reunited never to be separated again. It is comforting to me to know that death is not the end of life. Because of Jesus Christ we will all live again. Whether we have been good or evil all mankind will receive a resurrected body of flesh and bones. It is the Saviors gift to the world. The reality of Christ's resurrection helps us to understand the importance of us having a physical body. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have a body of flesh and bones. It is glorified and perfected. It is their work and glory for each of us to experience all the blessings that they experience. The Savior has performed the Atonement and provided a way for us to become like them. Christ did not however take away our personal responsibility to follow Him. We must live the Gospel of Jesus Christ and honor the sacrifice He has made for us.

During mortality we are subject to physical, emotional, mental and spiritual pain. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles has said, "Whatever your struggle, my brothers and sisters-mental or emotional or physical or otherwise-do not vote against the preciousness of life by ending it! Trust in God. Hold on in His love. Know that one day the dawn will break brightly and all shadows of mortality will flee." There have been times in my life when I have felt to cry out, "Why is this happening to me?" The words of Alma the younger have given me the strength to endure. "And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptation of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people. And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities." (Alma 7:11-12).

Everything that is unfair about life will be made right through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He has felt our pain and carried our sorrows. There is no trial in mortality that cannot be overcome with the help of the Lord. It is because of His resurrection that we obtain this hope. In Moroni 7:41 we read, "And what is it that ye shall hope for? Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal, and this because of your faith in him according to the promise." The Savior has said, "Look unto me in every thought, doubt not, fear not." (D&C 6:36) Let us look to the Savior and live. Put your trust in Him and remember His glorious resurrection. The day will come when we will stand before the Lord and thank Him for all that he has done for us. For now let us endure in faith and trust in His promises. I know for myself that Jesus is the Christ. He has a glorified body of flesh and bones. He has overcome physical and spiritual death, becoming the author of our eternal salvation. This is His true church. The Holy Ghost has witnessed to me that this is true. It is my hope and prayer that you will have that same witness embedded in your hearts. I invite you to "...come unto the fountain of all righteousness and be saved." (Ether 8:26).

Twice a year members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gather together to attend General Conference. Members and non-members are able to tune in throughout the world and receive inspiration and instruction from Church leaders. Over 100,000 people attend the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is viewed in 197 countries and territories and translated into 94 languages. General Conference sessions are held the first weekends in April and October. We are blessed to have the opportunity to hear from our prophet Thomas S. Monson along with his counselors and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. These meetings are directed under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Speakers have sought heaven's help in knowing what they should speak about. Living day prophets today speak on behalf of the Lord and reveal His will to man. At general conference we learn about what the Lord's will is for us. Elder Robert D. Hales of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles has said, "I promise that if you will listen, you will feel the Spirit well up within you. The Lord will tell you what He wants you to do with your life. In conferences we can receive the word of the Lord meant just for us." Many of us yearn for direction and answers to our questions. As we listen to the words of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, we will receive direction and gain answers to our questions.

In October 2011 I had the opportunity to attend the Priesthood Session of General Conference at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was an amazing experience and one that changed the course of my life. During that time I was seriously contemplating whether or not to serve a mission. It was something I had always planned to do but I was uncertain as to when I should go. During the Priesthood Session Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles gave a talk entitled, "We Are All Enlisted." The spirit whispered to me that I needed to serve a mission as soon as I could. Three months later i received my mission call to serve in the England London South Mission. I now know why the Lord wanted me to serve a mission. It has changed my life and influenced me in more ways than I could ever imagine. I am so grateful for the spirit that whispered to me that I needed to serve a mission. I know from experience that as we listen to the words of the living day prophets and heed the whisperings of the still small voice, our lives will be directed for good. You will know more assuredly than ever that you are doing what the Lord wants you to do. I know that Thomas S. Monson is God's prophet here upon the earth. The First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles stand as special witnesses of Christ to the world. When the Lord speaks they hear His voice. I know that Jesus Christ lives. He stands at the head of this Church and speaks to His prophet Thomas S. Monson. This weekend will mark the 184th Annual General Conference of the Church. Wherever you are throughout the world I urge you to listen to the words of the living day prophets. Come feast upon the words of Christ and nourish your faith with the good word of God.

What are the tender mercies of the Lord? Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles has said, "The Lord's tender mercies are the very personal and individualized blessings, strength, protection, assurances, guidance, loving-kindnesses, consolation, support, and spiritual gifts which we receive from and because of and through the Lord Jesus Christ." The tender mercies of the Lord can be seen in each of our lives. I know that they are real. They do not happen by chance or because it was merely coincidence. They happen because of a loving Savior who is full of grace and mercy and truth. In 1 Nephi 1:20 we read, "But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance." As we exercise faith in the Savior we will see the tender mercies of the Lord. Having faith in the Savior is to trust in Him and what He says. It's knowing that He has the power to keep His promises. Embracing the gospel of Jesus Christ will help us more clearly discern the tender mercies of the Lord. We will see His hand in our lives as we become His disciples.

As a representative of Jesus Christ I have truly seen the tender mercies of the Lord. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't see the hand of the Lord in my missionary service. I feel His love each day and I am grateful for the opportunity I have to stand as a witness of Him to the world. I would be lying if I told you that missionary work was easy. There are days when it is tough and you feel like the whole world is against you. It is during those times that I receive timely and profound messages from a loving Savior that gives me the strength to endure. I can't express how many times I have been seated in a sacrament meeting and someone gave a talk that was exactly what I needed to hear. From my own experience I have seen the Savior reaching out to me through others. We can be a vessel in the Lords hands to touch the lives of others. That is the beauty of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It teaches us to love and strengthen the weak. If we have the faith to listen and act upon the promptings of the Holy Spirit, we can be a light to those around us.

As a missionary I have been blessed to attend zone conferences where we are instructed by our mission leaders. Missionaries gather together to be instructed, edified and uplifted. I remember one such conference where I was rather discouraged. It had been a pretty rough week. Everyone was rejecting us and it seemed as though nobody wanted to listen to us. The night before the zone conference I remember pleading with the Lord asking Him to send me a message of comfort and counsel. At the end of the zone conference three missionaries were invited to the stand to bear their testimonies. As my name was called this scripture came to my mind, "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister." (Hebrews 6:10). Was it a coincidence that I was asked to share my testimony that day? Did it merely happen by chance? No. A loving Savior was reaching out to me and giving me a timely reminder that He loved me and had not forsaken me. I am grateful for the Lords tender mercies in my life. I promise you that if you will be diligent unto prayer and be believing, you will see the tender mercies of the Lord. I leave you my witness that He lives. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The Savior and Redeemer of the world. I love Him and will be forever grateful for His tender mercies.
The Savior once said, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." (Matthew 22:36-39). During our life in mortality we are commanded to love those around us and most importantly love our Father in Heaven. It should be one of our greatest desires to seek for the gift of charity in our lives. In speaking of charity the prophet Mormon said, "pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ." (Moroni 7:48). Charity, like faith, leads to action. As we pray and become true followers of Jesus Christ by living His gospel, we will be filled with the love of our Father in Heaven and develop the Christlike attribute of charity. We must remember that we are living in a world full of imperfect people. It is inevitable that there will be times when others may offend us or do us wrong. Let us follow the Saviors example who said of His perpetrators, "Forgive them; for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34).

Throughout my life i have been blessed to know many individuals who have truly attained the Christlike attribute of charity. Their example strengthens my faith and gives me a stronger desire to be more like my Savior Jesus Christ. I will always remember the example of my grandpa when growing up in Auckland, New Zealand. My grandparents use to live in the basement of my parents home. As a young boy I would always be found downstairs eating breakfast with my grandparents. One morning my grandpa was preparing breakfast and realized that there was only a little bit of milk left in the bottle. He looked at me and smiled and gave me the remainder of the milk to have with my cereal. He then walked to the Kitchen and had his cereal with water. I can't express how much i love my grandpa. His small acts of charity left such a strong impression on me as a young boy. I love him and wouldn't be the person i am today if it wasn't for his charity and love. I wish to express my gratitude to all those who have influenced my life because of their Christlike charity. The day will come when you will stand before the Savior and He will say, "Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." (Matthew 25:34).

Our Savior Jesus Christ was the perfect example of charity and selflessness. He gave His life for us that we might have eternal life. We are eternally indebted to him for the sacrifice he made for each of us. I firmly believe that if it had just been me or you that came to this earth, He still would have laid down His life. That is how much He loves you. I know that He lives. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored by a prophet of God. His church is on the earth today. I know that as we develop the Christlike attribute of charity in our lives we will draw closer to the Lord. May God bless you as you strive to be an example of charity not just in word but also in deed.
One of the greatest decisions i ever made was to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have now been serving as a full time missionary in the England London South Mission for 18 months. It has and continues to be the most rewarding experience of my life. I still remember entering the missionary training center in Preston, England. It seems like only yesterday that i was learning and preparing to enter the mission field. I will be forever grateful for the experiences i had during my time in Preston. Words cannot express how much it changed me. I will always look to my time in Preston with reverence. It was there that i gained a reassurance of Gods love and felt the redeeming and enabling power of the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ. It was only within a few days of my time in Preston that i learnt of the prophet Gordon B. Hinckley and his experience as a young missionary when first entering the mission field in England. He suffered much opposition and became very discouraged. He felt like he wasn't getting anywhere and that he should just go home. He wrote a letter to his family informing them on how he felt. In respond to the letter his father said, "Forget yourself and go to work." It was those six simple words that changed the life of Gordon B. Hinckley and it also changed mine. I can relate a lot to the experience of Gordon B Hinckley. When first arriving in Preston i felt so inadequate. I doubted myself and my ability to share the Gospel. I was encompassed about with doubts and fears. It wasn't until i learnt of the experience of Gordon B Hinckley that i developed the resolve to put everything behind me and move forward with faith.

During one of my lessons at the missionary training center we learnt about the importance of obedience and giving ourselves to the Lord. I remember returning to bed that evening and having a strong impression that i needed to pray and commit myself to the Lord. It was that evening that I knelt down and poured out my heart to the Lord. I committed myself to serve with all my heart, might, mind and strength. I then had the most overwhelming feeling. The Spirit completely overcame me. I could feel the love of God and the witness of the Holy Ghost. It was so strong. I knew with absolute certainty that i was a child of God. I was reminded of the scripture in Ether 12:27 where the Lord said, "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." Through Christ all things are possible. Never doubt yourself. No matter how weak you think you are or how many chances you think you've missed i testify to you that God loves you and that with the Saviors help you can overcome all things. I felt weak when i arrived in Preston but I soon learnt that if I trust in the Lord and embrace His love, i can be everything He wants me to be. I am grateful for Gordon B. Hinckley. For his life and example. I know that he was indeed a prophet of God. How grateful i am for living day prophets who leave behind a legacy that strengthens our faith and encourages us to never give up. I know the Gospel is true. I cannot deny it. For those of you who are seeking for truth I invite you to accept the Savior's invitation, "Come and see." (John 1:38-39). This Gospel changes peoples lives. It changed mine and i promise you it can change yours.
We live in a world where there is so much confusion about what is right and what is wrong. We are bombarded with ideas and opinions that cause us to be confused and lost. Our Heavenly Father is not the author of confusion. He wants us to feel safe and secure. Though the world and its values may change, God does not change. Truth will always be truth. The best way to find truth is to go to the source, our loving Heavenly Father. It starts with simply and fervent prayer. I have come to know for myself that I am a child of God. Once that truth is embedded in your heart you will be free. The Savior himself said, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32). We no longer need to feel alone or lost. Our questions can be answered as we humble ourselves before the Lord and call upon His name. In John 17:3 we read, "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." The greatest and most important truth we can learn in mortality is that we have a loving Heavenly Father who sent His Son Jesus Christ to the earth so that through Him we might have eternal life. I know for myself that God lives. Jesus Christ is His Son. Their work and their glory is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we invite everyone to learn of our doctrine and ask their Father in Heaven if it is not true. All those who are seeking for truth can find it. It all starts by getting on our knees.

Throughout time prophets have learnt the gospel of Jesus Christ. They in turn teach the gospel to others and testify of Jesus Christ as the Savior and Redeemer of the world. Their teachings are found in sacred books known as scriptures. As we study the word of God we learn of truth. It is confirmed to us by the power of the Holy Ghost. We invite the spirit into our lives as we pray and read our scriptures. God has always spoken to prophets throughout time. Today we have living day prophets who speak on behalf of the Lord. As we follow their counsel we will be led to truth. There may be some that might question whether these men really are Apostles of the Lord. In His Sermon on the Mount, the Savior counseled, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits..." (Matthew 7:15-16). I would invite you to do as the Savior counseled and look to their fruits. Heavenly Father knew there would be those who would question the Prophet Joseph Smith and whether the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lords true church upon the earth. The Book of Mormon is convincing evidence of the Restoration of the Gospel. It stands as an additional witness that Jesus is the Christ. Read from it's pages and ask your Heavenly Father if it is not true. You can know for yourself that the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve are called of God.

In John 3:16 we read, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." The Savior came to the earth and accomplished all that the Father asked. During His earthly ministry He performed the Atonement by suffering for our sins and overcoming physical death. He also organised His Church and called twelve men to be His Apostles. The calling of an Apostle is to be a special witness of Christ to all the world. The Savior gave the twelve priesthood authority to teach His gospel, perform the ordinances of salvation, and establish His Church. After the death of Jesus Christ, He continued to guide the Apostles through revelation. Eventually the Apostles were killed and Christs authorized servants were no longer on the earth. It was through the Prophet Joseph Smith that Christs Church and priesthood authority was restored to the earth. Today, the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve are commissioned by God and sustained as prophets, seers, and revelators. Their authority is traced in an unbroken line all the way back to Jesus Christ himself.

The sixth Article of Faith states, "We believe in the same organisation that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth." Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. If Christ organised His Church with twelve Apostles anciently, wouldn't it make sense that there would be twelve Apostles on the earth today? In Amos 3:7 we read, "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." The same organisation that existed at the time of Christ has been restored to the earth. We have living day apostles and prophets who reveal Gods will to mankind. They are found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

When i was 19 years old it was my privilege to meet Henry B. Eyring, an Apostle of the Lord. It was just after receiving my mission call to serve in the England London South Mission. I was attending a sacrament meeting in Bountiful, Utah when i soon learnt that Henry B. Eyring would be in attendance. He spoke at the conclusion of the meeting and bore a powerful testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ. The spirit illuminated my soul and i knew without a shadow of a doubt that he was truly an Apostle of the Lord. As i spoke with him after the meeting i continued to feel of that same spirit. It was a sacred experience and one that i will never forget. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lords true church on the earth today. I know that He speaks to His Prophet, Thomas S. Monson along with his counselors and the Quorum of the Twelve. This is the Lords work. How grateful i am to be a part of it.
